HTML Editor: Paste From Word

Within the HTML editor, the Paste from Word option allows you to copy and paste text from another application such as Microsoft Word and preserve some of the original formatting.

Notes:

  • Most formatting is preserved if you are using Internet Explorer. However, there may be loss in formatting for unusual fonts and type styles.
  • Images cannot be copied and pasted using this tool.

Using the Internet Explorer Browser

  1. Open a document in another application such as Microsoft Word. Select the text or other content you wish to copy.
  2. Copy the text you wish to move.

    Note: The copy function is usually under the Edit menu in most applications or you can press Control+C (Windows) or Command+C (Macintosh).

  3. In ANGEL, place your cursor in the new location for the content.
  4. Click the down arrow next to the Paste button and select Paste from Word.

    Click the down arrow next to the Paste button, then select Paste from Word.

  5. In the Paste From Word pop-up window that opens, paste the copied text within the text box by pressing Control+V.
  6. Click OK.

  7. Results of using the Paste from Word tool. In this case the font sizes, indentation, and bold were preserved, but font information was lost.

Using the Firefox Browser

The procedure is identical to the Internet Explorer procedure except that not as much of the formatting is preserved (but still more than in the Paste as plain text option).

Note:If you are using Firefox for Macintosh, almost no formatting is preserved.
